About
INVSN reunites Dennis Lyxzén with Sara Almgren, his bandmate in The (International) Noise Conspiracy—but that group’s mod-rock radicalism has been swapped out for post-punk austerity. On “Bom Bom,” the two perform a dramatic duet over an icy bassline and thundering drums; “I Dreamt Music” is a motorik rocker that zooms into Joy Division’s interzone. But on “Love’s Like a Drug,” the foreboding percussive clatter is cut with a laser-beamed synth pulse that points the way out of the darkness and toward the dance floor.
