About
The Blueprints for Madness is the second studio album by American death/thrash metal band Deceased, released in 1995 through Relapse Record. This album marked a significant evolution in the band's sound, incorporating complex song structure, unconventional instrumentation, and a raw production style that distinguished it from their earlier work. Following their 1991 debut Luck of the Corpse, Deceased spent the early 1990s releasing demos and the EP 13 Frightened Soul. The Blueprints for Madness was recorded at Inner Ear Studios with producer Don Zientara. Frontman King Fowley described the album as their "kitchen sink record," experimenting with keyboard, violin, and offbeat tempos to create a chaotic and unorthodox sound. Fowley cited influences from progressive rock, particularly Emerson, Lake & Palmer, during this period. The album blends Deceased's death metal roots with elements of thrash and progressive metal. It features intricate arrangement, abrupt tempo change, and atmospheric interlude. Lyrically, the songs delve into horror theme, exploring death, madne, and the supernatural. Band members King Fowley Vocal, Drum, Keyboards Les Snyder Ba, Vocals (backing) Mark Adams Guitars .
