About
The Coroner's Gambit is an album by The Mountain Goats. It is mostly John Darnielle and his acoustic guitar, but it has sparse auxiliary instrumentation as well. Most of the songs were recorded on John's Panasonic RX-FT500 boom box, but, per the text included with the original first edition of this album, Darnielle “took a Greyhound bus to Omaha to record some songs (with Simon Joyner), so that the album would have a nice varied feel to it, but he got very sick, which is not an uncommon thing to have happen after a Greyhound ride, and only a few of the songs came out the way he wanted.”.
