The album consists of five tracks spanning 45 minutes. The album was released on 4 November 2003 by Temporary Residence Limited. Having formed in Austin, Texas, in 1999, the band recorded two studio albums before releasing The Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place. The album is often considered to be released within.
