The Hearts Of Lonely People by Isles & Glaciers

The Hearts Of Lonely People is a Punk album by Isles & Glaciers, originally released in 2010. On Gatefold: 14 pressings tracked.

About

Isles & Glaciers may be the first post-hardcore super group, but what’s more impressive is that the seven-member band comprises musicians from Emarosa, the Receiving End of Sirens, Cinematic Sunrise, Underminded, Pierce the Veil and former members of Dance Gavin Dance, Boys Night Out, Chiodos, Fordirelifesake and The Sound of Animals Fighting. Their debut EP The Hearts of Lonely People sounds very eclectic, especially for a genre that can come across as so uniform. The gossamer instrumental “Kings and Chandeliers” emanates wintry beauty before “Hills Like White Elephants” ignites a fury of emotional inflections soaring over synthy soundscapes and dueling guitar leads. Organic aesthetics collide with mechanical modulation as live drumming goes head-to-head with programmed beats. The soulful “Clush” abounds in vocal gymnastics as Jonny Craig, Vic Fuentes and Craig Owens take turns at microphone one-upmanship. “Viola Lion” begins as a ballad before dynamic layers make it more complicated than standard serenades, but nobody could’ve expected a straight-up R&B duet like “Cemetery Weather” to actually work this well.
