The Hitcher (Original Soundtrack Recording)

The Hitcher soundtrack, released by Mark Isham, was first pressed through Silva Screen in 1991 - five years after the film was released. Isham had to source his original beta masters and re-sequence the music, due to the master tapes being lost. This is why the intro to Cars And Helicopters, compared to the movie version, is a lot shorter, although the entire soundtrack could be salvaged if an isolated score ever appears on a Blu-Ray release. The Silva Screen CD releases have the soundtrack play in the same order they appear on film, with a slight error; Endgame is actually Guards And Cards and vise-versa. The art sourced for the Silva Screen releases are scanned in from an original promotional poster, which is why lines and dirt can be seen on the front cover. HBO released a download edition of the album several years later and then in 2022, Silva finally reissued the soundtrack, with the correct track titles and with new artwork on CD and vinyl.
