Recorded in October 1987 during the band's final tour, <i>The Living End</i> features songs from Hüsker Dü’s entire catalog, from their first studio album to their final one, released earlier that year. “Target” serves as a reminder of their hardcore abilities; “It’s Not Funny Anymore” is a comparatively fizzy power-pop anthem. The highlight is the final cut: a rollicking version of the Ramones’ “Sheena Is a Punk Rocker,” taking them back to their punk roots one last time before they call it quits.
