The Mantle is Agalloch's second full-length album. It was recorded between November 2001 and April 2002, and released by The End Records in August of 2002. "Trudging Through Deep Snow" sample created by Aaron Sholes and Neta Smollack. The cover art is a picture of the Thompson Elk sculpture in Portland, Oregon.
