About

The Mercian Sphere is the second full-length album by UK black metal band Winterfylleth. The album was released on July 19, 2010 through Candlelight Records. 'Defending the Realm' is a re-recording and expanded version of 'Defending the Realm' from their previous album 'The Ghost of Heritage'. Tracks 5 and 6 were originally recorded back in 2008, but didn't make the final cut of "The Ghost of Heritage", the band's debut album. Both tracks were subsequently re-recorded and used on "The Mercian Sphere" in 2010. The original versions of the tracks were included on the 2012 Candlelight Records reissue of the debut.
