About
Interesting Album from Warwick, recorded in NYC during spring 1960. Really a compilation of 3 sessions; The Armando Peraza Septet, The Willie Rodriguez Octet and The Earl Zindars Sextet. It just happens that the leaders of the sessions have an all-star cast of sidemen as well. Trumpet; Marcus Belgrave, Donald Byrd, Booker Little, Don Ellis Trombone; Curtis Fuller Baritone sax; Pepper Adams Piano; Mal Waldron, Bill Evans Bass; Addison Farmer, Paul Chambers Drums; Ed Shaughnessy, 'Philly' Joe Jones Congas; Armando Peraza, Willie Rodriguez Timpani; Earl Zindars There is a nice multi-instrument version of the Mal Waldron solo standard, 'All Alone', here called 'Quiet Temple' and with Bil Evans on piano instead of Mal Waldron.
