"There Is a Time" is the third studio album by American singer and actress Liza Minnelli. It was released under the Capitol Records label in November 1966, marking her last album to be released by the label. The recordings took place at Capitol Studios in New York from April to May 2, 1966. The album was produced by Marvin Holtzman, with arrangements and conducting by Ray Elli. The album is often referred to as "Liza's French album" since the tracklist mostly consists of songs known for being sung by French artists such as Charles Aznavour, Michel Legrand, and Jacques Brel. Furthermore, the repertoire consists of English versions of popular French song. On November 5, 1966, Billboard magazine included it in the list of releases for that month. As part of the promotion, a single was sent to radio station, including the songs "I Who Have Nothing" and "Middle of the Street." The first song mentioned i, in fact, an originally recorded Italian song. In 1967, HiFi/Stereo Review magazine included it in their "Best Album of the Year" list, which featured the best albums of 1966 as selected by the magazine's music critic. Although it was never individually released in CD format, all eleven tracks in their entirety (in the original order) appeared on two compilations released by Capitol Records: "The Complete Capitol Collection" in 2006, which adopted the original cover of "Liza! Liza!," and "Finest" in 2009. Music critics' reviews were generally favorable for Liza Minnelli's album "There Is a Time." William Ruhlmann of the AllMusic website gave the album a rating of three and a half stars out of five and praised the young Minnelli's performance, stating that "Minnelli was only 20 years old when she recorded and released There Is a Time, but she comes across as a seasoned professional on a well-chosen set of songs that suit her performing style." A Billboard magazine critic also praised the album, considering it the singer's best work up to that point. He highlighted the high-quality vocal performances and arrangements and concluded that the album was definitely a winner both artistically and commercially. However, despite the positive review, the album failed to chart on the Billboard 200. This was attributed in part to a mismatch with the prevailing musical tastes of the time, as most of the American record-buying audience consisted of rock and roll-loving teenager. .
