About

This Austin band led by Orville Bateman Neeley III have earned comparisons to Iggy Pop & The Stooges, The Sonic Rendezvous Band, The Dictators, Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers, and other surefooted rock ’n’ roll bands who play(ed) with messianic pride and dedication. It’s a simple formula, but one not so easily perfected—or else all NYC rock clubs in the ‘70s would’ve been packed with great bands every night of the week, not just CBGB and Max’s. “No Time for the Blues” is the rallying cry here. This is high-energy, high-impact music in which Neeley sings with a swaggering attitude where nothing can bring him down. “Uncle Powerbag” blasts off with electric guitars chugging at both ends. “The Rockin’ Spins” lives up to its title. “Worries” sounds like a track left off a punk album from 1978. “Queen Glom” slows down for a Stooges-style trudge that eventually lifts off. “Beg to Christ” brings in a church organ for solemnity’s sake before hitting a mid-‘70s glam rock vibe.
