About
Not only did this album make history as the first female-fronted GRAMMYⓇ winner for comedy, but it also cemented Lily Tomlin’s multimedia star status. It takes the wildly popular character she created for TV’s Laugh-In—Ernestine the busybody telephone operator—and drops her into more outlandish scenarios than she encountered on the show. She winds up getting her wires crossed with everyone from the mob (“The Mafia and the Pope”) to J. Edgar Hoover (“The F.B.I.”), getting mixed up in their business with sidesplitting results.
