About
Tip is the debut album by Finger Eleven, originally released on August 26, 1997 on Mercury/Polydor Records in Canada. The band was dropped from the label six weeks after the album's release. They were later picked up by Wind-Up Records, and on September 15, 1998 Tip was re-released worldwide. The 1998 re-release has various differences, the most notable being "Consolation Day" having been shortened and renamed to "Awake and Dreaming", and "Above" having a completely new vocal take. It was the last album to feature original drummer Rob Gommerman. Four singles were released: "Tip", "Quicksand", "Above" and "Awake and Dreaming".
