As to be expected from modern rock bands who believe in loud guitars, harmonies and the almighty catchy hook, Canada's Three Days Grace deliver the red meat. "The High Road" brings immediately to mind a stadium filled with iPhones being lifted by the inspired masses who know a surefire anthem when they hear one. The sound throughout the album varies nicely. "Operate" adds a playful keyboard to the driving hard rock, leaving just enough space for the guitar powerchords to resonate with genuine heaviness. "Sign Of The Times" nicely layers the vocals for an eerie high-low octave effect. "Misery Loves My Company" uses a keyboard to add a touch of extra melodicism to counterbalance the 70s-styled hard rock guitar. Sharp phased-guitars add a lyricism to "Give In To Me." "Happiness" cruises at top speed. "Give Me A Reason" adds a creepy Mellotron vibe. Three Days Grace provide modern rock audiences with pop and power, all while expanding the zone.
