About
Seven years after the gloriously filthy "Wet Dream," Max Romeo was a changed man. Embracing social consciousness and Rastafarian spirituality, his 1976 landmark album took on the wave of unrest that swept Jamaica throughout the decade. "It's sipple out there!" he warns on the title track (meaning, it's sleazy or risky), and he cautions of fake Rastas "Stealing in the Name of Jah." But thanks to Romeo's songwriting craft and Lee “Scratch” Perry's masterful production, the collection is no less accessible than his earlier, sexier hits.
