About

We Stay Together picks up where 2011’s Passed Me By left off a few months prior: woozy tempos, sullen moods, and cavernous reverb. “Submission” is an ambient sketch drawn from what might be locomotive and steam whistle; “Posers” and “Bad Wires” pile soot on slow-motion techno. The atmosphere is almost suffocating and the sound quality intentionally degraded: “Cracked” could be a cassette dub of a warped VHS tape of a cement mixer (bounced down to lossy cell-phone video, for good measure). In other words, gloriously no-fi.
