About

Swans continue their remastered reissues series on Young God Records with the release of White Light from the Mouth of Infinity / Love of Life on Dec. 4 2015 which also available in the EU via Mute Records The two albums will be initially released as a limited vinyl box set, presented in the original restored artwork, which includes paintings by Deryk Thomas. The 2500 micron black lined box - with original logo in silver foil block in black paper - will also include 2 rare posters, a CD of outtakes and contemporaneous live recordings and a download code for both albums. In addition, White Light from the Mouth of Infinity and Love of Life will be available as a 3xCD set (which will include the bonus disc), individual vinyl albums and digitally. White Light from the Mouth of Infinity, Swans’ seventh studio album originally released in 1991, is considered the starting point for the second section of Swans’ inimitable history. Described as “…the glistening, glimmering sounds of the pensive countryside” by Stereogum, this will be the first time White Light from the Mouth of Infinity has been available on vinyl since its original release on Young God Records in 1991. The vinyl issue will include the track ‘Blind’, not included in the original release. Love of Life, the band’s eighth studio album, followed soon after in 1992. According to Allmusic’s Ned Ragget, “Love of Life continues the astounding creative roll Swans found themselves on … yet another Swans masterpiece." The vinyl version of this album has also been unavailable since its original release. Album notes

Discogs page for these notes (opens in a new tab)

This release compiles White Light From The Mouth Of Infinity and Love Of Life as indicated by the title. Also included is an additional compilation CD featuring studio recordings and live tracks tracks culled from Ten Songs For Another World, Omniscience, Anonymous Bodies In An Empty Room, Celebrity Lifestyle · Mother / Father and Love Of Life / Amnesia, as well as some archival material.
The vinyl versions of this compilation mimics the original limited edition boxed version of Love Of Life (UK & Europe 1992) (opens in a new tab), but was sold containing both albums (as well as several extras). The included pressings were also made available as stand alone vinyl releases at the same time.
The reissue versions of White Light From The Mouth Of Infinity all contain the extra track "Blind", recorded during the same sessions but left out of the original album (it was however included on Michael Gira's solo album Drainland as well as on the Various Failures 1988-1992 comp.) - Love Of Life however still only includes "No Cure For The Lonely" on the CD versions.
The CD versions of White Light From The Mouth Of Infinity appears to swap some tracks for the versions previously included on Various Failures 1988-1992.
All reissue versions (thus both the boxed set, the stand alone vinyl pressings and the 3CD comp.) were issued by and from for US and European territories respectively.
