For an artist who’s built his name on deconstructing the templates of indie rock, dance music, and noise, Xiu Xiu frontman Jamie Stewart sure knows how to do a cover. On the nervy <i>Women As Lovers</i>, Stewart teams up with Swans’ Michael Gira for a dissonant yet uplifting take on Queen's “Under Pressure,” once again illustrating his knack for pairing sonic extremes. Other tracks like “You Are Pregnant You, You Are Dead” and “Puff and Bunny” pair gentle melodies with thundering junkyard percussion.
