About
After announcing his intent to quit music in 2015, Pinback’s erstwhile frontman shares one of his most personal and dynamic prog-pop works. Rob Crow's nonlinear songwriting means the crazy time signature shifts begin right away, with "Oh, the Sadmakers," which leaps from Weezer-like punk-pop to Tool-echoing alt-metal. His poppier inclinations are worked out best through intricate, circular guitar riffs on "Business Interruptus" and the upbeat "Rest Your Soul," while the melancholic minor-chord melodies of "Yie Ar" and the closing track have Crow pouring out his doom and gloom with the calmest of croons.
