Biography
(February 3, 1949 - died July 13, 2004)
Bass player born in The Bronx (NYC), best known as a founding member of the New York Dolls.
After playing in the band's first two classic albums, Kane was forced out of the New York Dolls in 1975. He occasionally played with one or two of his former Dolls bandmates, on Sid Vicious' backing band, as well as his own projects.
In 1989 he joined the 'Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' after a suicide attempt, which was the cause of his serious struggle with alcoholism. In 1992 after returning home from a concert, a beating with a baseball bat from an unknown man, left him near death and needing a long recovery. In 1998 he started volunteer work as a librarian assisting the public with genealogy at the Family History Center at the Los Angeles Temple.
In 2004 an offer arrived to play a reunion show with the surviving members of the Dolls in London. After overcoming his differences with David Johansen, Kane reunited with him and Sylvain, giving a very successful performance. There were talks for the Dolls to do a full reunion tour, but upon Kane's return to Los Angeles, he was diagnosed with leukemia, passing away a few days later.
