Biography

Dan Fogelberg was one of the defining voices of the singer-songwriter era — he was blessed with success and a dedicated fan base that followed him throughout his career. Beginning with 1972's Home Free, Fogelberg fell in line with the countrified folk sound of Crosby, Stills, and Nash and the Eagles, but over the following decade would create his own brand of highly lyrical, thoughtful, and ornately arranged soft rock epitomized by tracks such as "Same Old Lang Syne" and "Leader of the Band." 1977's ambitious Nether Lands was a sweeping, poetic epic set against strings and a Colorado backdrop. Fogelberg's music cut through the excess and laid his heart bare, whether it was fashionable or not. His simple tales of love and loss were crafted to perfection and delivered in a pure, earnest tone. His songs continue to speak to those who value bittersweet honesty in their music.
