Fern Kinney is a musician from Jackson, United States.

Biography
American southern soul - disco singer born as Fern Kinney-Lewis in Jackson, Mississippi on July 11, 1949. She started in the mid-1960s singing with The Poppies along with Dorothy Moore. She released one solo single in 1968, the Huey P. Meaux produced Your Love Is Not Reliable (opens in a new tab), and in the 1970s she did back-up singing for other artists' releases, e.g. King Floyd, Dorothy Moore, Z.Z. Hill, etc. In the late 1970s Kinney started recording as solo artist, first releasing 1978's duet Sweet Life (opens in a new tab) with Frederick Knight. She then released 3 solo albums between 1979 and 1982 before returning to back up singing in the 1980s. Her albums were produced by the holy trinity of the southern soul scene viz. (Carson Whitsett, Tommy Couch, Wolf Stephenson). Her biggest hits were Groove Me (opens in a new tab) and Together We Are Beautiful (opens in a new tab); she has also covered successfully Shirley And Lee's Let The Good Times Roll (opens in a new tab) and Frederick Knight's I've Been Lonely For So Long (opens in a new tab).
