Biography
American pop soul singer, born December 26, 1943 in Flint, Michigan and died February 15, 1998, in Flint, Michigan of drug-related causes; according to some sources he committed suicide.
Williams wasn't the original lead singer of the Hues Corporation. For the first years of existence, the group had Karl Russell as lead, but after their participation in the Blacula-film project, he was replaced by Williams. Williams was actually discovered by Hues Corp member H. Ann Kelley.
The Hues Corporation was an American pop and soul trio, formed in Santa Monica, California in 1969. They are best known for their 1974 single "Rock the Boat" and Fleming sang lead vocals, which sold over two million copies, hit No. 1, and helped establish disco as a genre.
Fleming Williams was a key member of The Hues Corporation during their peak success, but his tenure involved periods of leaving and rejoining the group, ultimately departing for good around 1975, although he was integral to their biggest hits in the mid-70s, leaving a notable but not continuous path within the group's lineup.
