Biography

Gay for Johnny Depp were a hardcore band formed in New York, USA featuring ex-members from Garrison & Instruction. Known for the lyrical content of their songs, which were often concerned with the band's homoerotic obsession over the actor Johnny Depp, the group released their debut EP 'Erotically Charged Dance Songs For The Desperate (UK 2004) (opens in a new tab)' to much acclaim, and quickly grew a cult following. Having been signed to UK label in 2005, the band became a mainstay of the countries' Hardcore/Screamo scene, releasing the follow up 'Blood: The Natural Lubricant (An Apocalyptic Adventure Beyond Sodom And Gomorrah)' in September of that year.
In 2007 Gay for Johnny Depp released their debut album 'The Politics Of Cruelty'. This was followed up by 'Manthology' in 2009, which featured the group's entire back catalogue up to that point on one CD.
In 2011 the band's 2nd album 'What Doesn't Kill You, Eventually Kills You' on and featured a parody version of the Slade song 'Come On Feel The Noise' titled 'Cum On Feel The Boize'. The group split up soon after. In years since selections from their back catalogue have been reissued on limited edition vinyl.
