Ian Svenonius is a DC-based musician who has fronted a number of bands throughout the 1990s and 2000s (The Make Up, Weird War, Chain & the Gang, et al) and has released solo albums under the aliases David Candy and Escape-Ism. Svenonius is also a writer, penning the liner notes that often accompany his bands' releases and publishing the books "The Psychic Soviet," "Supernatural Strategies for Making a Rock 'n' Roll Group,""Censorship Now!!," & "Against the Written Word" as well as the periodicals "The Cellophane Flag," "Class Magazine," & "Ulysses Speaks." He has also written & directed the films "The Lost Record" and "What is a Group?" among others. In the 2000s, he hosted an interview show featuring musicians called "Soft Focus." In 1991, Sassy magazine named Ian "Sassiest Boy in America".
