Biography

Nick Carlisle has played an integral role as writer & producer in a handful of projects on the UK DIY music scene since 2006, from Peepholes 2006-2014, through Bamboo 2014-2020, Katy and Nick (Gob Nation) 2017-2022, and (O Genesis) 2020-present. Originally from rural Northern Ireland and now residing in Brighton, England, Nick’s music blends vintage analogue electronics & acoustic instruments with more contemporary digital sounds and samples to paint a world that’s instantly recognisable but simultaneously unfamiliar & often unsettling.
In 2022 Nick released his first solo album away from his associated bands, a largely instrumental album Häxan - A Soundtrack having been commissioned by QFT to compose and perform a new soundtrack for the 1922 horror film of the same name, as part of the BFI In Dreams Are Monsters season. Nick has performed the soundtrack live at Queen’s Film Theatre, Belfast, as well as various other venues around the UK and Ireland, including two sold out performances at the Barbican, London, in January 2024.
Bloody Saturnalia, Nick’s first album of songs, was released in November 2023 and included the singles, written after the passing of Nick’s Dad, and, both of which received stunning AI videos created by neural networks artist, who has previously worked with Peter Gabriel and Tangerine Dream., a different mix to the album track, was included on Brian Eno’s charity ’s Earth/Percent x Earth Day 2023 Compilation Album in aid of efforts to combat climate change.
Nick’s third album, and second album of songs, Sailors On The Roiling Sea, was released on the 22nd November 2024 on The Colour Inverted Records. For Earth Month in 2025 album track was released as a single to once again raise funds for.
