Biography
Musician, folk singer, songwriter and instrument builder of part Irish and part Native American (Creek) ancetry. He grew up near the Lafourche Swamps of Louisiana. Following military service, Sky moved to New York City and became part of the Greenwich Village folk scene together with his the girlfirend and musical collaborator Buffy Sainte-Marie. In the 1970s, Sky gradually moved into the field of Irish traditional music and founded together. He became known as a builder of the Irish uilleann pipes, which he also played. He incorporated the traditional Native American mouth bow into his music, and founded a pennywhistle company. In his last years, he recorded and performed with his wife Cathy Sky.
