Biography

English singer, songwriter and musician, born 21 July 1974 in Islington, London, England.
Coldwell was an original member of East 17, formed in London in 1991 with Tony Mortimer, Brian Harvey and John Hendy. He performed vocals and keyboards with the group and appeared on their original studio albums "Walthamstow" (1992), "Steam" (1994) and "Up All Night" (1995). Following Tony Mortimer's departure and the end of the original East 17 line-up in 1997, Coldwell, Brian Harvey and John Hendy continued together under the name E-17. The trio recorded the album "Resurrection", released by Telstar Records in 1998. Coldwell received songwriting credits during this period, including on the singles "Each Time" and "Betcha Can't Wait".
E-17 disbanded in 1999. Coldwell reunited with the other original East 17 members for a one-off concert at Shepherd's Bush Empire, London, in May 2006. He subsequently continued performing as East 17 with Brian Harvey and John Hendy. Following Harvey's departure, Coldwell remained with the group when Tony Mortimer returned and was part of the line-up that recorded "Dark Light", released in 2012. After Mortimer's departure in 2013, Coldwell and Hendy continued East 17 with Robbie Craig, who joined in 2014. Coldwell remained with East 17 following Hendy's departure in 2018 and subsequent changes in personnel. The later line-up of Coldwell, Robbie Craig and Joe Livermore released "24/7" internationally in 2021 and the single "I Just Wanna" in 2022.
Coldwell is the only original member of East 17 to have participated in each of the group's principal incarnations, including the 1998–1999 E-17 period and the later East 17 reunions, and remains a member of the group.
