Dallas Smith — producer
1969 in Los Angeles, the group Wichita Fall's Imperial was formed. They performed quite a lot and were widely known in narrow circles. Like all groups of that time, they played famous covers and tried to compose their own material. In general, they played for themselves and did not grab the stars from the sky. Numerous attempts to get under the care of some record company did not lead to success. All this continued until they accidentally came to the attention of the famous arranger Artie Butler. His track record included work with such performers as The Tokens, The Monkees, Janis Ian, Tiny Tim, Stan Getz, Boyce & Hart, Bobby Sherman and many others. Having shortened the band's name to Wichita Fall and signed a contract with Imperial Records, they began working on the album. Producer Dallas Smith and sound engineer Bruce Allison were involved in the work. The result of their collaboration was a magnificent conceptual album Life Is But A Dream consisting of thirteen inextricably linked songs. After its release, the album did not receive the attention it deserved due to the oversaturation of the music market of that time with excellent releases, among which it was lost. This was the end of the band's collaboration with Butler and Wichita Fall disappeared into time. Subsequently, the album was remastered by Liberty Records, with a new cover and the addition of two bonuses. And now we have the opportunity to hear this wonderful musical cross-section of that great time.
