// a tool for the shop, no some corporate shite flogged to the shop.

Run the shop.
We do the bloody spreadsheets
everything else.

Built on the metadata graph behind gatefold.fm. Wired to the Square hardware already on your counter. Priced like a proper record shop would price it.

Scan a barcode, get the right pressing. Print a tag, ring it up on the till with Square, watch it drop off your shelf and your web shop in the same second.

§ 1.0 · WORKFLOW

Four steps. Back-office sorted.

Every shop tool out there asks ye to choose between Square (braw for payments, blind to records), Discogs (braw for the catalogue, pure shite at the till), or a full Shopify build (great, but mair than most indie shops need to maintain). We built one tool that handles all four steps and partners with the rest — we dinna make ye re-type a single thing.

01 / SCAN
Scan in
Barcode, EAN-13, or Discogs URL. The Clerk picks the exact pressing — country, year, label code, matrix. Nae mair havin' 11 tabs open on Discogs.
02 / PRICE
Price up
Comp values from sold listings. Print a tag with a QR back to the album page. Or chuck it in a fixed-price bin.
03 / RING
Ring up
Square Reader, Stand, Terminal, or in-app pay. Tax + transaction reconciles back to the SKU automatically.
04 / DONE
Done, sorted.
Inventory drops. Web shop updates. Receipt emails the buyer with the Clerk's commentary on what they just bought.
§ 2.0 · SPEC

Seven things that actually keep indie shops tickin' ower.

Seven tools, hand-built around how a shop owner actually moves through their day. If ye need something we haven't built — see § 3.0.

FILE 01· PRESSING.ID

Barcode in. Right pressing out.

Every Discogs listing lives or dies on getting the pressing right — country, year, label code, matrix runouts. We do that hard graft for ye. Scan an EAN-13 or paste a Discogs URL; we surface every pressing on the graph and let ye pick the one in yer hand.

FILE 02· POS.SQUARE

Square hardware. Gatefold brain.

Ye already own a Square Reader, Stand, or Terminal. Dinna replace it. We sit on top of Square's API as the catalogue and inventory layer — every transaction reconciles back to the exact SKU, with tax + tip handled by Square the way it always has been.

§ 2.5 · WE GOT YOU

Yer shop runs a wee bit different. Aye. We've got ye sorted.

Every shop runs differently. Different floor layout, different POS, different consignment maths, different stack of weird auld-format bits and bobs out the back. Nothin' on this page is set in stone — see somethin' missing, ask. Most of these are an efternin's work for us.

Different label format?
We'll cut the template.
Want Stripe instead of Square?
We'll wire Stripe.
Already running Shopify?
Two-way sync. Catalogue + orders.
Selling at the Barrowlands on Sunday?
Mobile mode + offline basket.
Consignment with a 60/40 split?
Built-in. Set it once.
Tape store with weird format codes?
Custom format taxonomies.
Need a printed end-of-day report?
PDF, CSV, or thermal-printed.
Books and zines mixed in?
ISBN scans, same flow.
QuickBooks Desktop, no Online?
IIF export, with a heavy sigh, ken.
Want yer own custom domain?
DNS, SSL, done.
Sell on Discogs at the same time?
Two-way sync.
Funko Pops, lava lamps, oddities?
Manual SKU, same dashboard.
Cash-only Saturday market stall?
Cash mode, till reconciliation.
Hold a record for 48 hours?
Holds + pre-orders, name on the card.
// THE CLERK: Yer shop's no a SaaS use-case. It's a record shop. Tell us what's daft about how ye do it and we'll bend the software, no the other way around.

EX-GOOGLE
EX-ZAPPOS
600+LP COLLECTION
500+CONCERTS
Twenty years in big tech — Google, Zappos, the whole lot — buildin' things that scaled to billions of users. The whole time, the part of my week I actually looked forward to was Saturday at the local shop. I built the consumer side of gatefold.fm because naebody had built the second-screen tool a 600-record collection deserves.
But the apps and tools the shops use? Square doesna ken what a pressing is. Discogs treats sellers like a feature, no a customer. Shopify is a braw platform but mair than most indie shops want to maintain. Indie shops have been stuck choosing between three half-fits for fifteen years and naebody who actually loves records has built the missin' piece.
// THE PITCH
If ye run a shop and ye've ever cursed at a Square dashboard at midnight tryin' to figure out which pressing of Aja ye sold, drop me an email. We'll get it sorted.
§ 3.0 · PLANS

Three plans. One commission. Nae bullshit fees, pal.

Priced for record fairs, indie shops, and one-time setups. The 5% commission on app sales is in writing, in the contract, and is never goin' up. If ye need something custom, see Shop Built-to-Spec.

§ 3.1 · BUILT-TO-SPEC

Yer shop, yer flow. We'll build it.

Every shop runs differently. If yer workflow needs something we havena built — a particular consignment split, a weird crate-taggin' system, an integration with the POS yer wife's cousin wrote in 2009 — we'll scope it, build it, and ship it. Demo first, then we talk pounds.

5%
COMMISSION ON IN-APP SALES

5% for aye. In writing. Never goin' up.

When a gatefold.fm app user buys from yer shop through the app, we take 5% — payment processing included. Zero on shippin'. Whatever the buyer pays for shippin' goes straight to ye. The contract says we canna raise the commission. Ever.
