Biography
Yánnis Smyrnéos, Greek sound engineer. Born in Kavala, Greece.
He started his career at the Era Studio (in Nikoloudis Gallery initially and later in Stadiou Street) before establishing his own Polysound Studio. Since the 1970s, he has emerged as a pioneer in live recordings. He has edited and digitized historical recordings of folk songs at the Κέντρο Ερεύνης της Ελληνικής Λαογραφίας (Greek Folklore Research Centre) of the as well as recordings.
In 1992, he sold Polysound Studio to the owners of Sierra Studio.
Married to Όλγα Παυλάτου (whom he met in 1979, during the recordings of Ιππείς Του Αριστοφάνη - 20 Λαϊκά Χορικά).
