Biography

Yan Abramovich Frenkel was a popular Soviet composer and performer. Most favous for his music for "Zhuravli" ( English:"The Cranes" or "The Storks", lyrics by Rasul Gamzatov). "Zhuravli" became a major hit for Soviet actor and singer Mark Bernes during World War II.

Died: August 25, 1989, Riga, Latvian SSR
