Biography

Varqá (Arabic: ورقا), born Mírzá ʻAlí-Muhammad (Persian: ميرزا علي محمد); c.1856-1896; was an eminent follower of Baháʼu'lláh, the founder of the Baháʼí Faith. He was the first of a family to be designated a Hand of the Cause of God by ʻAbdu'l-Bahá. He was also identified as one of the nineteen Apostles of Baháʼu'lláh by Shoghi Effendi. Baháʼu'lláh wrote a tablet addressed to Varqá, praising the high station of the two brothersKing and Beloved of Martyrs.
