US audio engineer and producer (August 9, 1941, Marshall, Michigan - August 14, 2017, Northridge, California). Father of producer/engineer Cal Harris Jr.
He was active in Los Angeles, where he started his career at Gold Star Studios. He moved to Motown in the late 1960s and became head, where he worked alongside producer/arranger James Anthony Carmichael. Also operated his own. He was known and credited for his extensive knowledge of synthesizers.
