Biography

Miranda Fricker FBA FAAAS (born 12 March 1966) is a British philosopher who is a Julius Silver Professor of Philosophy at New York University and Co-director of the New York Institute of Philosophy. Fricker originated the theory of epistemic injustice, coining the term. The concept has been influential well beyond academic philosophy, notably in healthcare; the Care Quality Commission, England's regulator of health and social care, describes it as "a key concept for us as a regulator" in its updated human rights approach.
