American singer, songwriter, musician, and producer.
Recording and performing both solo and as Steve Earle & The Dukes, as well as with alternate backing bands The Bluegrass Dukes and The Train Band, he has also worked with The Del McCoury Band, Shawn Colvin, and The V-Roys, among others.
He is one half of the production partnership The Twangtrust with Ray Kennedy, and co-founder of E-Squared Records with Jack Emerson.
Born January 17,1955, in Fort Monroe, Hampton, Virginia, USA, he is the older brother of Stacey Earle and Patrick Earle, the father of Justin Townes Earle (1982–2020), Ian Earle (1987-), and John Henry Earle (2010-), and has been married seven times to six different spouses, including Teresa Ensenat (1988-1992) and Allison Moorer (2005 -2014).
