Biography

Thomas Patrick Hunt (born 31 August 1988) is an English politician who served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Ipswich from 2019 to 2024. During his time in Parliament, he was a member of the Conservative Party, serving on the Education Select Committee and as the Prime Minister's Trade Envoy to Bangladesh. After leaving Parliament, he was provisionally expelled from the Conservative Party in 2025. In the weeks beforehand, The Times reported that he was among a number of former MPs being targeted by Reform UK as potential recruits. Earlier in his career, he was a councillor on East Cambridgeshire District Council from 2011 to 2017. Following the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough devolution deal, Hunt also worked as chief of staff to the elected Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
