“This shelf tells a very specific story about contemporary pop domination. With the 2010s leading at twenty-nine records and the 2020s right on its heels at twenty-eight, you are looking at a heavy modern streak built around chart-topping giants. Eleven Ed Sheeran records, four Taylor Swift releases, and four from Yoasobi anchor the top end of these sixty-eight artists. What makes it tick is the invisible infrastructure in the fine print. Max Martin and Mark Stent each pull six mixing and production credits across these spines, holding the whole damn thing together from behind the console while the primary artists take the bows. It is methodical, highly concentrated, and entirely unapologetic about its pop orientation. Sure, you're missing a couple of stray pieces like Taylor's Beautiful Eyes or Yoasobi's 2023 EP, but the core runs are right there in the bins. No pretense, just a massive pile of modern hits that clearly gets regular rotation on the turntable. That's a working collection.”
