About

Jack Johnson sailed the North Atlantic for the 2017 documentary The Smog of the Sea, a film he scored about plastic pollution in the ocean. That transformative journey inspired this thoughtful and dreamlike seventh album, built around his trademark breezy Hawaiian folk. While the mood is resolutely romantic (the soothing “You Can’t Control It” and “Sunsets for Somebody Else” could be lullabies), “My Mind Is For Sale” feels like the record’s centerpiece. It’s a politically charged call-to-arms and a sign of Johnson’s evolving purpose.
