(New) Christmas With Boney M.

A second Boney M. Christmas album had been planned for 1984 but recordings were abandoned midway, and previously released songs were added to the track-listing. In Germany, a test pressing of the album was made before the release was cancelled in favour of the compilation "Kalimba De Luna - 16 Happy Songs". In South-Africa, however, the album was released, exclusively including the original version "Mother And Child Reunion" that would later be remixed and overdubbed for Frank Farian Corporation. The new Christmas recordings remained unreleased elsewhere until 1986.
Boney M. Christmas albums come in many forms. The main groupings:
– 1981: The original 'Christmas Album', track list includes "I'll Be Home For Christmas", "Winter Fairy-tale" and a 3-part "Christmas Medley (6:24).
– 1984: The aborted/limited 2nd xmas album '(New) Christmas With Boney M.', with 6 new Xmas titles, including "Joy To The World" and "Auld Lang Syne", with other loosely 'seasonal', older Boney tracks. The South African issues include exclusively the original version of "Mother And Child Reunion" (later to be overdubbed with vocals by various artists for a charity single by Frank Farian Corporation (opens in a new tab)) - [THIS MASTER]
– 1986: 'Die 20 Schönsten Weihnachtslieder Der Welt' / 'The 20 Greatest Christmas Songs' / (Australia:) 'The Most Beautiful Christmas Songs In The World', including all xmas tracks from 1981 and 1984, except "I'll Be Home...", "Mother And Child.." and "Winter Fairy-tale", with some tracks slightly remixed and/or edited. The remixed 'Christmas Medley' (7:51) includes an additional 4th track "Sweet Bells".
– 1992: 'The Most Beautiful Christmas Songs Of The World', a slightly re-edited and remixed version of the 1986 release, with "Christmas Medley" edited down to 7:15.
– All other Christmas albums are varying combinations of both original (1981) and remixed and/or edited (1986 or later) versions.
