Biography
Jaz-O is the stage name of Jonathan Burks (born October 4, 1964, in Brooklyn, New York), an American rapper and producer best known for his early influence on Jay-Z and his contributions to East Coast hip-hop. He began his career in the late 1980s under the name Big Jaz, later releasing music as The Jaz before adopting the name Jaz-O in the mid-1990s.
As Jaz-O, he continued to record and produce, working with a range of artists while developing a reputation for complex lyricism and pioneering use of triplet flows.
