New releases from artists you own and want

Gatefold already knows which artists are on your shelf and your wantlist, so it can tell you when they put something out. It's free for everyone.

Where do I see new releases?

Kebab (3 dots) > New Releases. It lists what's dropping each Friday, starting with artists you own or have on your wantlist.

  1. Page between months with the arrows. The count at the top is how many releases that month are from artists you own or want.
  2. Tap a Friday to see its releases. Your artists come first.
  3. View all shows everything else that Friday. Back to your artists goes back.
  4. The search box looks across every upcoming week, and Refine sorts and narrows by genre.

What can I do from a release card?

Each card has a Want button, a preview, and a Buy button for your home store. A card says On your wantlist or You own a copy when that's true. Tap the X to dismiss one, or tap the card to open the sleeve with the artist and the buy buttons.

What if another band has the same name as mine?

Gatefold checks who actually made the record. If a release is by a different artist who shares a name with one on your shelf, it isn't counted as yours and you don't get an alert for it. When Gatefold can't tell either way, the name match stands.

Can Gatefold tell me when something comes out?

Yes. Release Alerts is in Kebab (3 dots) > Settings > Notifications, and it's on by default.

  • You get a push when a new album turns up from an artist you own or want, at about 8 in the morning your time.
  • On release day you get an "out today" reminder, unless you already own it by then.
  • Tapping the push opens New Releases with What we pinged you about at the top.
