Road alerts, weather and Last.fm

On a drive the Clerk watches the road ahead and only says something when it matters. All of this is free.

What does it warn me about?

During a drive, the phone checks traffic about every 75 seconds. It tells you about a new crash, hazard, closure or flooding ahead, and names the road when it knows it, roughly 75 seconds before you get there (between 1 and 1.5 miles). It speaks about two of those per drive, and each one once.

When the road you're on slows down and stays slow, it says so once, at most twice a drive. It never reads out the all-clear, and it won't talk over another alert for three minutes.

What about weather?

It checks the weather about every 12 minutes. Only severe or extreme warnings, like a tornado or a flash flood, get spoken.

What happens to my music?

It pauses, the Clerk speaks, and the music comes back. If you're in the middle of talking to the Clerk, the alert waits until you're done. If the phone loses signal for a few checks in a row, it tells you once that it can't see the road, and leaves it at that.

Speeds and distances are in km or miles to match your region. Location has to be on, set to While Using with Precise on, or it says nothing.

Can a drive scrobble to Last.fm?

  1. Kebab (3 dots) > Settings > Connections.
  2. Connect Last.fm if you haven't.
  3. Turn on Scrobble what I play in Gatefold.

Apple Music tracks you play on a drive then post to your profile. A track counts after half its length or four minutes, whichever comes first. It's off by default. If another app already scrobbles your Apple Music, leave it off, or every track shows up twice. Tidal tracks aren't scrobbled. CarPlay plays aren't scrobbled yet.
