Talking to the Clerk in Driving Mode
You can run a whole drive from the player bar. The Clerk is there for when you'd rather talk than tap.
How do I start a drive by voice?
On the first screen of Driving Mode, tap the orb in the middle and say the drive you want. Once you're driving the orb is smaller. Tap it and talk.
What happens when I talk mid-song?
- Tap the orb. The music pauses so the mic can hear you.
- Say it: "play something calmer", "skip", "who's this?", or ask for an album, an artist or a set.
- The Clerk answers out loud, then your music comes back or the new music starts. If you'd paused it yourself, it stays paused.
In the apps it's one tap, one turn: it stops listening after the reply, and you tap again for the next thing. A browser keeps listening between turns. "Skip" and "who's this" get answered on the spot.
On Android, the phone's own speech recognition does the listening. Tidal and live tapes can't be paused this way, so the Clerk doesn't stop them.
If it says the mic was denied, on iPhone that message has an Open Settings button.
How much can I use it?
Free accounts get 3 Clerk voice sessions a month. A session lasts about an hour, and the turns inside it are free. Building a set from your shelf (tapping Adaptive or a feel tile, or asking for a set out loud) uses a quarter, and free accounts get 15 quarters a month. MOSH has no limit on either. Random Banger is free and never metered. Skip and who's this never use either.
