Keep a private note on a record

A note is where you keep what the sleeve doesn't say: which copy this is, where you found it. It stays with the record on your album page, and only you can see it.

How do I add a note?

Every record you own can carry one note, up to 500 characters, and only you can see it. Gatefold suggests pressing details, the story behind the find, or where you bought it.

  1. Open the record from your Shelf.
  2. Album Page > Kebab (3 dots) > Edit Notes. The Kebab (3 dots) on Spin of the Day has it too.
  3. Type your note and tap Save.

Once saved, the note shows on the album page under Your copy, labelled Your note. Tap it to edit.

Do my Discogs notes come over?

  • Yes. Gatefold syncs with Discogs on its own once a day, when you open the app, or when you tap Sync now in Kebab (3 dots) > Settings > Sources. A note you keep on the record in Discogs comes in as your note here.
  • If you've edited the note in Gatefold, a sync never overwrites it. Your version stays.
  • A note you write here doesn't go back to Discogs.

What's Notes on your copy?

Notes on your copy, further down the page, is the Discogs notes for your pressing. That's the label's text, not your note.
