Biography

Andrew Mulligan Green (born July 7, 1977) is an American former professional baseball utility player and manager who is the interim manager for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB). He is a former manager of the San Diego Padres and has also served as third base coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks and bench coach of the Chicago Cubs. He was a versatile fielder, who had the ability to play in almost all of the positions in baseball. After making his debut, he played second base, third base, shortstop, and in the outfield. He threw and batted right-handed, stood 5 feet 9 inches (1.75 m) tall and weighed 165 pounds (75 kg) as an active player. He was a consistent .300 hitter in the minor leagues, won a Pacific Coast League MVP award, and played in the majors for three years with the Arizona Diamondbacks. After a year with the Nippon Ham Fighters in Japan, he played in the Cincinnati Reds organization and returned to MLB for a brief time in 2009 with the New York Mets.
