American (born Boston, Massachusetts, August 5, 1942) record and film producer and label owner who currently lives in London, England.
Graduated from Harvard University in 1964, he has produced Pink Floyd, Nick Drake, Fairport Convention, and R.E.M., among others. In 1980 he founded the record label Hannibal Records, which he ran for 20 years. He was the former owner, and produced the films Jimi Hendrix and Scandal (opens in a new tab). He has written occasionally for the British publications The Guardian and Independent. The compilation album White Bicycles - Making Music In The 1960s - The Joe Boyd Story is an anthology of his record production work.
