Add a record from a photo of its cover
Plenty of records have no barcode: old pressings, imports, anything with a worn sleeve. Cover reads the front of the sleeve instead.
How do I add a record from its cover?
Add tab > Cover. Frame the front of the sleeve and take the picture.
What does it do with the photo?
Gatefold works out the artist and title from the picture. When it's confident, it runs the same search as Type and takes you to the album, where you confirm the pressing. It doesn't add anything on its own.
What if it isn't sure?
Nothing gets added. Try again closer and straighter, or go to Type and enter the name.
Is there a limit?
Cover is free. There's a fair-use cap of 150 photos a day per account. It's there to stop abuse, not to meter you. The photo is sent off the device to be read.
