Getting your records in · 3 of 8

Type, paste a link or add by hand

Type takes anything you can read off the record or paste from a browser. You don't need an account with any of those services.

What can I type?

Add tab > Type. The box says "Search or paste a link". It takes:

  • an artist and album, like moon safari;
  • a barcode number of 8 to 14 digits, which works the same as a scan;
  • a catalog number;
  • a deadwax or matrix string. It checks records you already own first, and needs five or more letters and numbers.

Yes. Paste a link from Discogs, Apple Music, Qobuz, Bandcamp or archive.org and it opens that record. An archive.org link adds a live tape, and it lands under Live tapes on your Shelf.

It waits until you press Enter or paste, so a half-typed address doesn't match the wrong record.

Not sure which pressing you've got?

On an album with several pressings, tap Not sure? Add it now, pick the pressing later. The record goes on your Shelf and a Pick pressings button shows up. Sort it out whenever you like, or never.

In a brand-new account's first session that button stays hidden.

Can't find it at all?

Add tab > Type > Can't find it? Manual add, then enter an artist and a title. That's how bootlegs, tour pressings and anything Discogs has never heard of get in.
